New comers to Sunset Valley

It has been difficult few days wandering around this big house with just Lance & myself. I keep expecting to turn the corner and see mom or dad. I have not been able to get out in the garden yet as we spent so much time together out there weeding and harvesting, but I can't neglect it for much longer as dad would not appreciate that.

Speaking of gardens, I was up early this morning, I couldn't sleep and I heard the sprinkler running. I went outside to investigate and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was dad's ghost. It gives me a pleasant feeling to know dad is still around.

We have some newcomers to Sunset Valley, Charles Elf and Bailey Lane. I am heading over to welcome them to Sunset Valley right after I stop by the stadium and get a job at the Professional Stadium. I think Dad would be pleased to know I am going to follow his career path.

I am so excited Charles is so handsome what with that blond hair. We talked for hours and hours. He is artistic just like mom and loves to paint. He is also a hopeless romantic and said all the right words. We have a date tomorrow night and I have a hunch about this one.

End of generation 1

Dad was fishing at the lake across from where we live when the grim reaper came for him. It was so sudden and rather unexpected. He had just retired and had lots of little projects planned around the house.

Then the same day within a matter of hours, the grim reaper returned and this time he came for mom. I am heart broken and not quite sure what it will be like living in this house without them. Before she left, she begged me to promise that I would continue the legacy and be strong.

It feels like just yesterday that I was still in high school going to football games with my friends and having a good time. Now, I have the responsibility of the house and the bills. Even though mom and dad left me some money, it is still a bit daunting. Lance told me as soon as he graduates he is out of here. He wants to travel.

I have now graduated from high school and I have a boyfriend. His name is Marlin Rowell. He is really cute and I think he is going to ask me to marry him. Heck if he doesn't, I'll ask him.

I'm a bit scared, but excited as well. They say when one door closes another one opens.

Remodel

Just when The Lyons were getting ahead a bit financially they decided to do a remodel. The house just didn't please them and there were changes they wished they had done. The children are getting older and it just seemed like the right time.

(Authors note: For some reason when I try to use custom windows, it causes the window & the wallpaper to sort of bug out. Then whenever I mouse over the bugged area the game crashes. I can't even go into build mode to get rid of the offending window without crashing. I had to load the game without custom content just to get rid of the windows; however, I didn't realize that I was going to lose all my custom content--I guess I had not thought that far ahead. Now, it was tempting to use a kaching to recoop some of my lost, but I have not.)

Leslie is a teenager now and Lance is learning how to walk and talk. Leslie is taking after her mom and has started her own book, "Lassie Come Home." It won't be long before Lance has another birthday. They grow so fast.

Two + two equals 4

After some discussion, Leah & Leighton decided to have one more child to complete their perfect family. It was a happy day when Lance was born, a healthy baby male.

The work on their house is coming along nicely. The exterior is almost completely finished and the landscapers are due back out soon. They were already out once working on the pond. If you peer in closely too, you might see the gold fish.

There is still lots of work to be done though. Sometimes Leah wonders if the work will be completed in her life time. Time just seems to speed bye. It feels like yesterday that Lance was born, and here he is having another birthday. He is now a toddler and his father is teaching him to talk & walk.

The other day while Leah was working out & socializing at the gym there was a surprise visit by the grim reaper. He had came for an elderly gentleman and it was a very frightening experience. It reminded Leah that it would only be a matter of time before the grim reaper came for her. Would she have accomplished everything she set out to accomplish?

Soon after the gym visit, Leah had her own birthday. It reminded Leah that she needs to pay a visit to the hair dresser since all of a sudden her hair is so gray. She might be old, but that doesn't mean she can't take care of herself.

Will Leah be the success she hopes to be before she sees the grim reaper again? Will she finish her third or fourth books? Will she be the renowned author she hopes to be?

Meet Leslie Lyons

Leah was thrilled when she learned she was pregnant. She was so excited when the doctor gave her the good news that she could not wait to break the news to Leighton. Of course, Leighton is family oriented so he was thrilled. He would have 10 children if Leah would agree to it.

Work gave Leah some much needed paid time off so she was able to work on her book some more, meet with the construction workers, and do some celebrity appearances around town. The time flew and before you know it Leah & Leighton were the proud parents of Lesley, a healthy female.

Leighton & Leah were very proud parents and were happy to show their new infant off to anyone who would stop by. Leah was beginning to feel a little bit restless working from home. With her ambitious trait, she was itching to get back to work so soon after Leslie's birthday to toddler-hood, Leah went back to work. Her boss was so happy with her job performance and the work she did from home that he gave her a promotion right away.

Leighton is doing real well in his career as a professional athlete. He is the star player and just recently made team captain. Leah is still working on her second book and the publisher is thrilled with the chapters she has submitted so far. She sees the end in sight.

Leighton thinks it is time for them to have a second child. Leslie is growing up fast and will be having another birthday in a matter of days. Leah is beginning to think he is correct as she grew up as an only child herself and does not want that for Leslie. She had a difficult time getting pregnant with Leslie and is not sure she will be able to get pregnant again, as she is not getting any younger.

Celebrity Status

Meeting Leighton was the best thing that ever happened to Leah. Money just seems to be practically dropping at her feet. Being a celebrity helps when it comes to making money. Everyone wants your attention or wants you to promote their business. Just yesterday, Leah did a commercial and got paid 5000. Construction has now started on the main house.

Of course, both Leah and Leighton are staying so busy that it is hard to get together for some quality time in order to start that family. Where does the time go? Both Leah and Leighton had their birthdays and were so busy they didn't even take the time to buy a cake. Leah feels her biological clock ticking and just can't wait to get pregnant and have her first child. In the meantime, work on the house is coming along slowly.

Lots of nights while Leighton is sleeping, Leah will be furously working on her second book, Of Moose and Sims. Her first book is already a success and earning her an extra 35.00 a week.

First comes marriage, then comes ...

What Leah did was have the contractor remove a few of the foundation tiles and shorten the room some and luckily she was able to get the house closed in with a proper steps to enter the house. It is a good thing too, because when Leah called Leighton, he wanted to come visit her. In Sunset Valley, romances move along pretty quickly, as if you wait too long someone else will grab the guy you want, so Leah was thrilled when Leighton said yes to getting engaged.

Neither Leah or Leighton wanted a long engagement and because they both want a child so badly they decided to get married right away. Imagine Leah's shock after they were married when she found out that Leighton was a vampire! Funds were low, but she insisted he go over to the Science building and buy the vampoo potion to cure him. Since Leighton had never liked being a vampire he agreed right away. He didn't even know you could get a cure.
Of course, spending 3000 will set back any new additions to the house, but at least Leighton is working, though right now it is only part time. He hopes to find a permenant job soon especially since they are trying to have a baby right away.

Mr. Right

The other evening when Leah was at the library she ran into celebrity, Leighton Sekomoto. She doesn't know how she did it, but she impressed him and they quickly became friends. She was even able to interview him. She could not believe her good luck when she found out that he was single!
Nothing like performing an interview right in the bathroom, but one must grab an opportunity when it presents itself. Leah even thinks Leighton could be the one and is planning to invite him over to the house very soon.

Leah wanted to impress Leighton and she had some extra cash so she hired a contractor to do some work to make the house larger; however, before the house could be finished, she found herself out of cash. She wonders where did the money go?

What is Leah to do now?

New job

Leah is doing so well at work that she was promoted to automated spell checker checker and received a promotion as well as a raise. Because of this, she has been able to afford a few more items and is no longer having to use public restrooms or picnic baskets in the park.

She is starting to feel a little cramped though in her small home so is saving for some new construction and working hard at work in hopes of getting another promotion. She still runs around town after work collecting butterflies & rocks for the extra cash and many evening you will find her at the library working on her new book.

Hopefully soon will come the day when she is a successful author. She is hoping to have the funds soon to make some small improvements to her home as well as have her first book published! Until then, she will make do with what she has and continue working hard.

One day, she will be able to call a repair man when something breaks like the toilet instead of having to do it herself.

Legacy Challenge, Leah Lyons

I decided to do a legacy challenge on Sims 3. The Legacy Challenge is a long, 10-generation challenge where you start out with a single founder and very humble beginnings and try to lead the family to fame, fortune, and success over the course of 10 generations.

This means, I cannot use any cheats not even a simple kaching. I don't think I have ever played a sim and not used a cheat before, so that in itself will be a challenge. The challenge states you can live in Riverview or Sunset Valley and since I do not like Riverview I have chosen Sunset View. As according to the challenge, Leah has purchased 15 Summer Hill Court for 14,700. Leah currently owns 2 items, a small twin bed & a shower. This leaves a balance of 1063, so Leah the first order of business is to earn some money! Luckily across the street there is a well stocked pond and a few plants that she can harvest. Those can be sold to the grocery for some extra cash. Also, collecting bugs and rocks earns some money too. Leah was lucky and found a rare bug that sold for over 900.

After a few days of fishing, harvesting, and collecting as well as visiting the library every chance she got to work on her writing skill, she decided it was time to get a job as a journalist. After her first day at work, she had enough to build a small, did I mention small, home and a toilet & table and chair.
